Multan Sultans is a Pakistani professional Twenty20 franchisee cricket team. Ali Khan Tareen won the team's rights on 20 December 2018 and announced on January 6, 2019 that the team will compete with the same name in the rest of the season. The team is mainly located in Multan, and was created to compete in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in 2017.
Multan consortium owner Ali Tareen again chose Multan Sultans for the sixth team. Multan Cricket Stadium is home to the team with a capacity of 35,000. In his inaugural session, the team was captained by Shoaib Malik, who is also his current captain appointed Tom Moody and Wasim Akram as the team's chief coach and director respectively went. Haider Azhar was GM-Cricket Operations while Nadeem Khan was the manager of the team. In the 2019 season, Johan Botha was appointed as the head coach of the team instead of Tom Moody, who withdrew from his role due to domestic commitments.
Multan Sultans started their season against Karachi Kings with just a loss of just 7 runs. In the next match against Islamabad United, he stopped the opponents only for 125 runs and easily scored his first win to pursue the goal. After his first five matches, he lost 4 and won only once. They had a chance against Lahore Kalindars where they batted the highest total in the tournament (200), but in the last few overs poor bowling gave them the expense of the match, as a result the match was lost on the last ball. He won his second match of 6 season against Islamabad United with 6 wickets.
In the fourth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the 19th T20 match will be played between Multan Sultans and Peshawar Jalami on 28 February at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Both of them first met on 24 February in Sharjah where Peshawar Jalmadi had defeated Multan Sultans by five wickets.
Multan Sultans had the highest total of 200/6, which they compiled in Lahore on February 22 in Sharjah while the highest number of Peshawar Jalami was 155/4 (Quetta Gladiators in Dubai on 15 February).
Left-arm fast bowler Junaid Khan, who has taken the most wickets for Multan Sultans, has so far taken eight wickets at an average of 18.75.
